E-Learning Program - Office Ergonomics: Comfort at Work

If you haven’t tried our office ergo software, you should! This program allows users to adjust their own work stations, at their own pace. The program is interactive, including all the key office ergo adjustment criteria, and lots of interesting “did you know?” facts. It also includes a quiz, so participants can print a certificate for their HR file upon successful completion of the program. This software allows you to train literally hundreds of people with a flexible schedule, at a very reasonable cost. Click on the button below to find

Training

We always enjoy conveying our knowledge and skills to others who are willing to listen. We hold several workshops throughout the year and will also work with you to create a customised workshop that can be held in-house or at an outside facility. Our workshops are interactive and allow ample opportunity to practice the skills as you learn them.

Physical Demands Descriptions

Our physical demands descriptions (PDDs) are concise, visual descriptions of job demands. Each step of the job includes a digital photograph, a description of postural demands for each body part, and a measurement of force demands. A work station layout and tool photo is also included. Our PDDs are validated by worker and management representatives to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Ergo Assessment

An ergonomics assessment is done to evaluate the risk of injury based on accepted ergonomics guidelines. We prioritise concerns according to the level of risk, and we work with your resources to develop solutions. We can provide ongoing support to carry the project through the implementation phase.

Office Ergo Assessment

We conduct a pre-assessment survey, meet with the employee to understand his/her concerns, measure the work station and key employee dimensions, and then make adjustments to improve comfort, safety, and productivity. Any outstanding recommendations are summarised in a report, which includes photographs of the key concern areas and improvements made.

Ergo Design Guideline

We offer an ergo design guideline to allow engineers to incorporate ergonomic design principles at the conceptual phase of the project. The guideline includes specifications for seating, container design, carts, hoists, lighting, power tools, foot pedals, handles, work/job design, floor surface, PPE, displays, controls, clearance, working heights, reaches, conveyors, and more. The guideline is accompanied by a one day workshop for your design team.

Restriction Reviews

The restriction review is an evaluation of the match between a specific job and a specific worker. We use our PDD and the worker’s documented work restrictions to evaluate the match, and propose accommodations where possible.

Design Reviews

We review proposed equipment, tools, and layouts to identify potential ergonomics hazards, and then work with your internal resources to optimise the design of new jobs. This approach works proactively to eliminate ergonomics issues in your plant!

Heat Stress Policies

We evaluate the metabolic demands of selected jobs, and work with you to develop a heat stress prevention program that follows the ACGIH guidelines. We accompany the program with skill-based training to ensure that your heat stress response team is equipped to manage the program.

   Stretching/Chair Adjustment Sessions & Posters

We will develop a step-by-step guide on "How to adjust YOUR chair", and we'll print this on one side of a poster. A stretching poster will be printed on the flip side. This customised program comes with a one-hour on-site awareness session for your employees.

  Program Development

We can use all of our services, and training, to develop a successful, proactive, ergonomics program in your facility. We use your internal resources and our experience to ensure that the program can become self-sufficient over time. We are currently involved, for example, in the development of ergonomics teams in plants throughout Canada for one of our ongoing clients.

  Seminars

We also offer one-hour lunch 'n' learn sessions to convey ergonomics awareness to professional groups, organisations, safety groups and conference delegates. Although we have lots of topics to work with, we are also interested in what ergonomics issues you or your organisation would like to hear about. Contact us to schedule a lunch 'n' learn session.

Two guys work for the city: one furiously digs a hole, the other quickly fills the hole. A confused passerby asks, "Why do you dig a hole and fill it up again?" The digger leans on his shovel and replies, "The fellow who plants the trees is sick again today”.
