Five “ergonomic” baby items

Not sure what to buy for the baby shower you were invited to? The last assignment that we asked Alex to finish before he left for parental leave last week was to draft this article. (We thank him for the article, and for the wonderful photo that he allowed us to share with you.) We asked Alex, “What five items have you found useful, from an ergonomics perspective?” Here’s what he said:

As a parents, my wife and I have come to appreciate how these five items are beneficial to us, and our son, from an ergonomics perspective.

  1. Baby Bjorn Bouncer Balance Soft

This devices frees up our hands so we can both enjoy our dinner together as a family! Plus, it tilts up towards us, so we don’t have to look down as far to see him when we’re bouncing him.

  1. Angelcare® Soft Touch Baby Bath Support

This is another device to take the baby’s weight out of our hands, when we give him a bath. It raises his head and upper body up towards us, so we don’t have to reach as far down in the sink to wash him, and helps to keep him safe from drowning.

  1. Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini

A common theme here is that it’s tiring to carry a little one around in your arms all day. This carrier distributes the weight of our little guy over the shoulders and torso. It also has adjustable head support to make sure he has his head and neck supported.

  1. Cozy Cuddles Nursing Pillow

The ‘C-shaped’, contoured design comfortably supports our little man and reduces our back, neck and shoulder strain during breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

  1. Height-Adjustable Crib

A crib with adjustable mattress height positions ensures that we don’t have to bend over too far to pick him up after his nap. As he gets older, we will lower the mattress so he doesn’t easily escape!
